Workforce Action Plan

The Workforce Action Plan 2016—2019 (PDF, 1.1MB) aims to enhance the capacity of Queensland's early childhood education and care workforce to deliver quality outcomes for children.

The actions and initiatives outlined in the new Workforce Action Plan (WAP) were informed by the feedback gathered from educators and service providers during the WAP Review consultations conducted in July and August 2014.

The review aimed to assess:

  • what the previous WAP 20112014 had achieved
  • what workforce issues were impacting on the sector
  • what future workforce development strategies were needed.

At the conclusion of the review, the Workforce Action Plan Consultation Report (PDF, 585KB) was released. (This publication was produced prior to the current government.)

This report provides an overview of the consultation findings and, based on these findings, sets out potential priority areas for future workforce development strategies.

A number of evaluations and research projects were also undertaken as part of the review and helped to provide a solid evidence base for the strategies in the 2016-2019 WAP.

Evaluations

Research projects

Over the coming months, we will work with sector stakeholders and partners across government to consider the findings of the review, including the priorities identified during the consultation process, and develop a new WAP for 20162019.

Our thanks to everyone who contributed to the review through the consultation process. We will be using the website to keep you up to date on progress as we work towards a new WAP, so please watch this space for developments.
